Automotive Technology

Program Description

Students enrolled in the CTECS automotive technology program are given instruction in and demonstrate skills and knowledge in most aspects of the automotive and mechanical repair field including safety, tools and equipment, engine repair, electrical and electronic systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine performance, air conditioning, and drive line service.

Students receive over 1400 hours of time in the trade technology area (theory and practical)

Students are eligible to participate in work-based learning (WBL) in grades 11 & 12. This program allows companies to hire students during the school day to work at a dealership, independent repair shop, or parts supplier. Students will get credit for their work experience and it is an important pipeline for getting our students into industry.

Windham Tech Automotive Shop Information

    All repair appointments must be scheduled. The Automotive Department will supply the Security Office with a daily list of expected customers.

    During the school day from 7:15AM to 2:45PM - Park in the front parking lot, report to the front door of the school, and sign in with security. Once cleared by security, drive to the gate kiosk leading to the rear of the building. Buzz the gate kiosk and security will open the gate for you. Drive to the automotive shop entrance at the rear of the building. Park along the hillside adjacent to ECSU, ring the doorbell, and an Instructor will meet you at the door. Bring in a copy of your vehicle's current registration and insurance.

    Anytime you arrive at school for a delivery, park at the front curb. Go to the main school entrance, and buzz the security office. Inform security that you are making a parts delivery to the automotive shop. Wait for security to call and confirm with the automotive shop at ext. 24133. Once cleared by security, drive to the gate kiosk leading to the rear of the building. Buzz the gate kiosk and security will open the gate for you. Drive to the automotive shop entrance at the rear of the building. Park, ring the doorbell, and an Instructor will meet you at the door.
