A Skilled Workforce Starts Here

At Windham Technical High School, students prepare for their future by combining strong academics with hands-on career and technical education. They graduate with a high school diploma, valuable technical skills, and real-world experience that can lead to college, apprenticeships, military service, or a career.

Students rotate between academic and trade instruction on an approximately two-week cycle, giving them time to focus on their studies while developing practical skills in their chosen career area. In their trade programs, students learn in hands-on environments using industry-standard equipment and build skills that prepare them for the workplace.

During their freshman year, students explore our career and technical education programs before choosing a trade that matches their interests and goals. As they progress through high school, students build technical skills, gain workplace experience, and have opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials.

Windham Tech also offers a strong academic program that prepares students for college and other postsecondary opportunities. Beginning in their junior year, eligible students can participate in Work-Based Learning, earning school credit while gaining hands-on experience in their trade during the school day.

At Windham Technical High School, students graduate with more than a diploma. They leave with the knowledge, technical skills, and real-world experience to take their next step with confidence.

High Reliability School

Windham Technical High School is pleased to announce the achievement of Level 1 certification in Marzano High Reliability Schools™. Level 1 certification means Windham Technical High School has created a “Safe, Supportive, and Collaborative Culture,” which is the foundation for every level that follows. Without such a culture, student achievement will be compromised. Day-to-day school operations are addressed and evaluated in Level 1. The high reliability school (HRS) program was created by Marzano Resources to help transform schools into organizations that take proactive steps to ensure student success. Using a research-based five-level hierarchy, along with leading and lagging indicators, educators learn to assess, monitor, and confirm the effectiveness of their schools.

The Vision of a Graduate (VoG) at the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS) embodies our commitment to preparing students for success in Connecticut’s workforce. Developed in collaboration with students, parents, staff, and employers, the VoG ensures that CTECS students are not only job-ready but also equipped to lead, innovate, and adapt in a dynamic world. As educators, we are dedicated to developing these qualities by providing a comprehensive education that empowers our students to achieve their fullest potential and make meaningful contributions to society.

Windham Tech Expectations

Students must always be dressed in the correct academic/trade uniform and have a student ID (physical) at all times.

  • cell phones/airpods/headphones must be put away.
  • cell phones must not be visible.
  • all above-mentioned items can only be used in the cafeteria.

Daily attendance is required and imperative to be in good standing.

Students must arrive at school and class on time. Tardy students must bring a pass.

As per title ix policy: sexual harassment/sexual battery/other sexual misconduct is prohibited. Discrimination, bias, and bullying under the protected classification such as race, religion, color, national origin, age, or disability are prohibited. Additionally, no direct or indirect profanity or racial slurs will be tolerated.

Being a part of the Windham Tech HS community means mutual respect must be demonstrated toward all individuals. Students must respect their learning environment at all times and accept teacher directives without negotiation.
